1. If you have young children, go on a staycation. Save money on travel and hotel expenses by staying at home. Take your children to places like Big Time Entertainment, Adventure Bay Family Water Park. Windsor has glowing golf, laser tag, go karts, arcades and water parks. You could go to a new attraction every day or every weekend. 

   At night when the kids are asleep and you get a baby sitter, you can sneak away to the Casino!

2. Purchase or renovate your home with staycations in mind. Buying a home with a luxury jet tub and basement bar may make staying at home for your vacation time a more enticing idea. Spend the money on a nice home once, and you never have to dream about the nice hotel suite with a hot tub. I myself have had a jet tub installed in my last three homes for this reason.

4. Set a goal for every month about how much money you want to save. Make a plan that can realistically achieve that goal. Use discipline to prevent yourself from splurging. Obviously this is easier said than done, but as a father myself, I think I have to include this advice also.
